Job Description:

We're partnered with a substation engineering firm who are seeking a motivated and skilled Field Service Engineer to join their successful team as the current engineer is moving to another one of their US offices.


This role is ideal for candidates with an Electrical Engineering or Power System Engineering degree, relevant electrical testing or substation engineering experience, or backgrounds such as ex-Navy Nuclear. We also welcome recent graduates with electrical engineering experience who are eager to grow and learn in the field.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of power systems and equipment.
  • Read, interpret, and work with electrical schematics and CAD designs.
  • Use hand tools and equipment to complete mechanical tasks, such as assembly and calibration.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure project success.
  • Travel frequently to various job sites in the local area, typically Monday through Thursday.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, reports, and documentation.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power System Engineering preferred or 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Equivalent experience (e.g., ex-Navy Nuclear, utility technician, or relay testing roles) considered.


  • Skills & Knowledge:
  • Proficient in CAD software.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, including using hand tools, reading tape measures, and performing physical tasks.
  • General understanding of power systems and electrical principles.


  • Experience:
  • Open to recent graduates and those with minimal direct experience.
  • Prior utility technician or relay testing experience is a plus.


Travel & Work Expectations:

  • Frequent travel to job sites (primarily driving) during the workweek.
  • Four-day workweeks (10-hour days, Monday–Thursday).
  • Occasional Sunday night travel departures may be required.
