Payroll Specialist


Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping.

Thornton, CO – (Full Time On-Site)

Pay Range $27 - $30 per hour, DOE

Schedule: M -F, 7am – 4pm OR 7:30am – 4pm MST


JOB SUMMARY

Are you an experienced payroll specialist with a passion for compliance and accuracy in the construction industry? We are looking for an eager and dedicated payroll specialist to join our team. Our preferred candidates will have extensive experience working in complex payroll systems for large, multistate workforces. Additional experience with varying state payroll tax laws, other payroll software and resolving payroll discrepancies is highly desirable.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process weekly and biweekly payroll processes for over 1,000 employees at the instruction of the Payroll Manager.
  • Review entries of peers for accuracy, assists co-workers as needed, and ensures all items on checklist have been audited and completed prior to processing.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all payroll functions performed.
  • Must be willing to cross-train on all duties assigned by Payroll.
  • Seek efficiencies in all work processes on an ongoing basis and shares those findings with the payroll team for overall departmental improvement.
  • Support all employees, both current and former, vendors, and other outside callers, by addressing questions and/or concerns related to payroll in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. Provides clear and concise explanations. Treats all internal and external customers with courtesy and respect, following the guidance of the Payroll Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Staying updated on new tax laws and payroll regulations to ensure compliance. Provide expertise and recommendations for compliance and process improvements.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 5+ years of direct Payroll experience in multi-state Required
  • Previous union payroll experience Preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience processing garnishments Required
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll taxes Preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll functions, processing procedures, and payroll systems and software (preferably ADP).
  • Strong customer service orientation with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with all Payroll and HR Information, HIPAA and Private Health Information (PHI) related to employees, both current and former.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a specific focus on Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems/software and timekeeping software.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED High School Diploma or GED Required

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Works in an indoor office with long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
  • Occasional lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
