1ST SHIFT!!

A prominent manufacturing company in the Metro Detroit area is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to join their team. This is a direct hire position! This role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse, with a focus on both domestic and international shipments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shipping and receiving, a proven track record in warehouse operations, and the ability to lead and mentor a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all shipments.
  • Manage both domestic and international shipments, including preparing customs documentation and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Operate HiLo and forklifts as needed for heavy lifting tasks; must be forklift certified.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to ensure peak performance and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Receive and inspect items by verifying details against purchase orders, sorting items by job number, and ensuring sizes/dimensions are correct.
  • Complete receiving reports on a timely basis and notify leaders/managers of shipment status.
  • Maintain physical inventory lists for all supplies and monitor stock levels.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures within the warehouse.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding shipment delays, changes, or issues.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment, with a strong focus on shipping and receiving operations.
  • Familiarity with international shipping and customs processes.
  • Forklift certification is required, with demonstrated ability to operate HiLo and similar equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience, including training and mentoring employees.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure inventory accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
