We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Engineer to oversee the technical maintenance and efficient operation of machinery on assigned vessels. This role is critical for ensuring the vessel's readiness for operations, compliance with safety standards, and adherence to regulatory requirements. The position offers the opportunity to take charge of engine room procedures, supervise technical staff, and support facility operations while maintaining seaman status.
*Marine Engineer Responsibilities*
* Manage the ship's technical maintenance and ensure the safe, efficient, and economical operation of all machinery.
* Control engine room procedures and supervise the day-to-day running of all machinery.
* Monitor and analyze lube oil quantities, consumptions, and cooling water conditions.
* Oversee the engineering/technical department and allocate maintenance work to engine room staff.
* Supervise the safe loading and transferring of bunkers and maintain essential engine-related stores and consumables.
* Ensure effective shipboard discipline and adherence to the Safety Management System.
* Supervise the general condition and maintenance of steering gear, air conditioning, and other essential systems.
* Assist with preparing dry-docking specifications, repair supervision, and structural alterations.
* Coordinate with the facility manager on shoreside duties while assigned to a vessel.
* Attend meetings related to crew and facility operations.
* Maintain compliance with USCG, ABS, ISM, TSMS, and ISPS regulations as applicable to ocean-going vessels.
* Perform other responsibilities as assigned, ensuring vessel readiness for emergency response.
*Marine Engineer Position Requirements*
* Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) as Chief Engineer or First/Second Engineer of motor-propelled vessels on oceans with USCG endorsements.
* U.S. Citizenship with a valid passport for foreign voyages.
* Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Marine Engineer onboard vessels.
* Hands-on experience with Caterpillar, Scania Engines, John Deere Generators, towing winches, towing gears, and hydraulics.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Team player with leadership qualities and a positive attitude.
