Role Summary  

We are seeking a dynamic Quality Manager to establish and lead our quality function in a rapidly scaling environment. You will develop and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 , drive a culture of continuous improvement , and build a high-performing global quality team . This is a hands-on leadership role with both strategic and operational responsibilities. 

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • QMS Implementation & Maintenance  
  • Develop, implement, and sustain ISO 9001- and IATF 16949-compliant QMS tailored to our photonics semiconductor manufacturing environment. 
  • Ensure QMS scalability to support the company’s planned growth from 100 to 200 employees. 
  • Automotive Compliance & Core Tools  
  • Leverage and integrate APQP, FMEA, PPAP, MSA, and 8D methodologies to satisfy automotive and other industry-specific customer requirements. 
  • Maintain full audit readiness and lead both internal and external audits. 
  • Continuous Improvement  
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to apply Lean, Six Sigma , and statistical process control (SPC) techniques for data-driven improvements. 
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions to enhance product quality, yields, and manufacturing efficiency. 
  • Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration  
  • Act as the primary quality liaison for customers, suppliers, and internal teams across multiple locations (Canada, California, and China). 
  • Drive unified quality standards by training cross-site personnel on quality best practices and compliance requirements. 
  • Risk Management  
  • Proactively identify and mitigate quality risks throughout product development , production , and the supply chain
  • Implement robust qualification processes to ensure stable manufacturing workflows for existing and new product lines. 
  • Team Development & Leadership  
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a growing quality team, fostering a collaborative and high-accountability environment. 
  • Coach other departments on quality principles to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and excellence
  • Strategic Contribution  
  • Report to executive leadership on key quality metrics , audit findings, and strategic initiatives. 
  • Provide forward-looking recommendations for product lines, technology roadmaps, and market segments to meet and exceed industry standards. 


Qualifications  

  • Education  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Device Physics, Materials Science , or a related field. An advanced degree (Master’s/Ph.D.) is preferred. 
  • Experience  
  • 10+ years in quality or process engineering within semiconductor or photonic device manufacturing
  • Proven track record in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certifications. 
  • Hands-on experience with automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 8D) is strongly preferred. 
  • Technical Proficiency  
  • Demonstrable expertise in SPC, statistical analyses, root cause analysis techniques , and semiconductor process control. 
  • Familiarity with photonic integrated circuits (PICs) or PLC technology is highly advantageous. 
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt) is a plus. 
  • Leadership & Communication  
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive cultural change
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and decision-making capabilities. 
  • Experience managing cross-functional, global teams and working directly with demanding customers in automotive or similar industries. 
  • Adaptability & Travel:  
  • Capable of handling evolving priorities in a high-growth environment. 
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support multi-site operations.
