Job Description: Screener
Position Overview:
The Screener is responsible for reviewing financial transactions, including wires, that are flagged in the Global Sanctions Management Operations System (GSMOS) and Fircosoft. The role involves analyzing potential matches against the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated National (SDN) list or internal proprietary watch lists. The Screener ensures compliance with regulatory standards by validating matches, releasing legitimate transactions, or escalating cases to the Global Sanctions Screening and Reporting Group (GSSRG) as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze wires and other flagged transactions in GSMOS and Fircosoft for potential matches against OFAC SDN lists or internal watch lists.
- Determine the validity of matches and take appropriate actions, such as releasing transactions or escalating them for further review.
- Ensure compliance with applicable sanctions laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of reviewed transactions, including outcomes and actions taken.
- Collaborate with other compliance teams to resolve escalated issues.
- Stay informed about updates to OFAC regulations and internal policies.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of OFAC regulations, sanctions screening, and financial crime compliance is preferred.
- Familiarity with sanctions screening tools, including Fircosoft, is an advantage.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with internal teams and escalate cases as necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Job Description: Lead (Sanctions Screening)
Position Overview:
The Lead is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who supports the sanctions screening team by providing expert guidance, mentoring, and training. This role is instrumental in cascading new processes, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, and driving continuous improvement within the team. The Lead also reviews the work of less experienced team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sanctions screening processes and systems.
- Provide mentoring and domain-specific training to team members, including new hires.
- Cascade updates related to new processes, handling procedures, policies, or regulatory changes.
- Review the work of less experienced team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Act as a Designated Trainer, delivering training on sanctions screening processes, tools, and regulatory requirements.
- Offer feedback on training programs and recommend enhancements to improve effectiveness.
- Lead the implementation of procedural changes, ensuring smooth adoption by the team.
- Collaborate with the Global Sanctions Screening and Reporting Group (GSSRG) and other stakeholders to resolve complex cases.
- Monitor team performance and support process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of OFAC regulations, sanctions compliance, and related screening tools (e.g., Fircosoft, GSMOS).
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience in guiding and training teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex processes and provide feedback.
- Proven ability to adapt to regulatory changes and implement process improvements.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Prior experience in a compliance or sanctions screening role is highly desirable.
