Job Title: Innovation Design Lead – Healthcare Innovation
Location: Hybrid (Austin, TX) (also open to Bloomfield, CT; Denver, CO; Morris Plains, NJ; Santa Monica, CA; St. Louis, MO)
Contract: 11 Months (Possible extension)
About the Role : Are you passionate about driving innovation in healthcare through human-centered design? We’re looking for a mid-level Innovation Design Lead to join our Health Innovation team and help tackle some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare today. In this role, you will leverage design thinking, service design, and qualitative research to guide complex projects from discovery to solution validation. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that improve healthcare delivery, enhance user experiences, and achieve impactful business outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing projects through 3-month sprint cycles, and to have a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead end-to-end design thinking processes for healthcare innovation initiatives, managing projects from problem definition through solution validation.
- Conduct comprehensive design research (contextual inquiry, stakeholder interviews, observational studies) to gain a deep understanding of user needs and pain points.
- Synthesize complex research into actionable insights, compelling narratives, and strategic direction that align stakeholders and inform decision-making.
- Facilitate collaborative workshops and design sessions with cross-functional partners to generate innovative solutions and build consensus.
- Create and validate key design artifacts, including service blueprints , journey maps , and prototypes to communicate and test concepts.
- Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to ensure solutions are both desirable and feasible, while meeting business objectives.
- Present findings, recommendations, and project progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Mentor team members in design thinking methodologies and foster a culture of continuous learning.
- Contribute to the evolution of our innovation practice and design processes.

- Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading design workshops and cross-functional team sessions.
- A strategic mindset balanced with practical, actionable execution.
Required Qualifications :
- 5-7 years of experience applying human-centered design methods in complex enterprise environments .
- Bachelor's degree in Design , Human-Computer Interaction , or a related field.
- Proven track record of delivering impactful solutions in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end innovation projects and strategic problem-solving.
- Expertise in design and prototyping tools like Figma , Miro , and Adobe Creative Suite .
- Experience with service design , information architecture , and creating user flows , journey maps , and prototypes .
- Knowledge of agile/lean UX practices and experience in sprint-based development processes.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Healthcare industry experience or a demonstrated interest in healthcare innovation.
- Graduate degree in Design , Business , or a related field.
- Familiarity with lean startup and business model innovation approaches.
- Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and inclusive design practices .
- Experience with emerging technologies and their potential applications in healthcare.
