Position Title: ICU Nurse Manager

Position Summary:
The ICU Nurse Manager is responsible for managing all operations and functions of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role involves collaborating with staff, providers, and other leadership members, including the Director of Nursing, to ensure high-quality patient care while adhering to facility policies and procedures. The Nurse Manager maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the ICU, ensuring the efficient delivery of patient care and resource management.
- Implement and revise standards of practice to reflect current care standards and patient needs.
- Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, and staff to ensure optimal care delivery.
- Develop, communicate, and enforce policies and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor department performance based on patient satisfaction feedback.
- Ensure staff adhere to safety and quality standards, optimizing the environment to minimize healthcare errors.
- Manage staffing plans, ensuring adequate coverage and a positive working environment.
- Provide leadership in the professional development and mentorship of staff, and administer performance appraisals.
- Resolve employee and labor management issues in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, respect, and collaboration within the department and with external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a clinical discipline. Master’s degree in a clinical discipline, Business, or Healthcare Management preferred.
Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS (PALS and NIHSS within 90 days of hire).
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical acute care hospital experience, including at least 2 years in management or leadership.
- Recent experience in a critical care setting or in a leadership role is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage staff, develop policies, and oversee daily operations.
- Excellent understanding of quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
