Casco Products Corporation, a global Tier One electronics and electromechanical supplier to the automotive industry, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Novi, Michigan.

JOB SUMMARY :

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer’s main job responsibilities will include design and development of mechanical components (concept and production) for Casco’s products that meet performance requirements and cost targets. The individual will be responsible for change management of our products’ mechanical components. In addition, this individual will provide coaching and guidance to other engineering team members on technical topics and project deliverables.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Prepare/develop working concept of mechanical design along with costed mechanical BOM, drawings and CAD models.
• Develop detailed mechanical design that meet performance requirements and cost targets.
• Verify design prior to tooling kick off as much as possible by performing engineering calculations, analysis, mockups, simulations, etc.
• Prepare for and participate in design review meetings.
• Support technical presentations / discussions with customers.
• Provide coaching and guidance to other engineering team members.
• Other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 10 years of mechanical design engineering experience in the automotive industry.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Strong 3D modeling capability and familiarity in 2D creation/modification (CATIA V5 strongly preferred).
• Knowledge of FEA analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of materials selection (plastic, steel and aluminum).
• Knowledge base of automotive standards and automotive core tools.
• Ability to effectively coach and guide others on technical and project topics.
• Excellent organizational skills, communication proficiency, capable decision making, and problem solving/analysis.
• Professional and cooperative demeanor.
• Reliable, self-directed and capable of working independently, with the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously and use sound judgment in prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
• Proactive, team-oriented person who can anticipate needs, take initiative with excellent follow-through and require little direction or supervision.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.
• Occasional travel may be required (international and domestic).
