Sr Cyber Systems Engineer

70-80/HR


Sr. Cyber Systems Engineer will collaborate on designs, assist with requirement deconstruction, and provide applicable cybersecurity requirements.

The Sr. Engineer - Cyber Systems will collaborate to ensure work products are aligned with requirements and the overall design strategy. This role will provide updates on completion of tasks within estimated timeframes and budget constraints.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Work independently in solving technical issues.

• Collect requirements and assist with designs.

• Assist with developing network architecture plans that comply with multiple requirements documents and standards, specifically in a US Navy segmented architecture (Defense-in-Depth Functional Architecture, or DFIA).

• Review technical capabilities for use with new requirements.

• Working knowledge of firewalls, routing, switching and other network, computing, and telecommunications systems.

• Working knowledge of VMware vCloud and Virtual Desktop products.

• Working knowledge of various VPN technologies such as IPSEC and SSL encrypted tunnels.

• Working knowledge of host level protection and penetration testing.

• Knowledge of U.S. Dept. of Defense cyberspace operations doctrine and concepts

• Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

• Develop and/or perform cyber testing procedures, solutions and frameworks to ensure cyber requirements as needed including verification and validation.

• Plan, direct, and oversee subcontract software development teams in design, development, testing, installation, verification and validation of software for U.S. Navy shipboard systems in accordance with DoD, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) rules.

• Monitor cyber requirement implementation for design including the compilation and tracking delivered cyber and software from subcontractors, equipment suppliers and the government looking for security vulnerabilities in coding

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and 6 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence.

• This requirement can also be met with an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and 8 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence, or a High School Diploma or GED and 9 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence.

• Cyber System experience required.

• Supervisory experience desired.

• Six Sigma or LEAN training desired.

SKILLS:

• Must have experience with VMware vCloud and Virtual Desktop products.

• Must have an understanding of Windows Environment Design, Linux Deployment and Integration with other Operating Systems.

• Experience with .Net (C#, MVC), IIS Administration, and Web Development

• Experience with Relational Databases (i.e. SQL Server, Hana)

• Experience with Project Management Methodologies (Agile), Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC)

• Experience with Software Governance tools and practices

• Experience integrating across multiple applications and platforms (including APIs, REST connectors and other Web Services)

• Experience with DevSecOps and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Continuous Deployment (CICD)

• Experience with or knowledge of Cybersecurity practices and their implementation related to systems and software as in NIST Special Publication 800-53"

• Experience with or knowledge of applying and validating CIS Benchmarks and/or DoD Security Requirements Guides (SRG) and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)

• Experience and familiarity with technical writing

• Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) preferred.

• Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills.

• Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
