Under the direction of the Industrial Engineer, the Plant Engineer will support different engineering projects, functions and continuous improvement initiatives throughout our manufacturing and warehouse facilities. The Plant Engineer will foster collaboration among different departments, including but not limited to Maintenance, Quality Control, Processing and Warehouse. The Plant Engineer will serve as the technical and data expert on label systems, packaging systems and other operational equipment, and identify ways to maximize productivity and share detailed knowledge with other teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support capital projects by evaluating equipment, developing new processes, and collaborating with a variety of teams
- Serve as the technical and data expert on label systems, packaging systems and other operational equipment; identify ways to maximize productivity and share detailed knowledge with other teams
- Enhance data gathering from technical systems to provide additional process data for yield reporting and product giveaway
- Communicate with operations and maintenance teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities; direct observations of process or equipment issues to solve complex manufacturing problems
- Perform root cause analysis of operational issues and create preventative actions
- Analyze operational data, create reports, and support database management
- Collaborate with key process owners across the organization to plan, lead and implement strategic business improvement processes, policies, and procedures
- Work with leadership to develop and lead cost-savings opportunities throughout the operations facility
- Create/measure/maintain lean processes for production and link them to employees' everyday work to drive and improve company KPIs – SQDCP (Safety, Quality Delivery, Cost, and Productivity)
- Act as a champion and leader in the development, implementation, and sustaining of various continuous improvement projects and initiatives
- Follow all safety guidelines including utilization of proper PPE
- Keep work area clean and organized to ensure safety and environmental compliance
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience is preferred
- The most critical skills are problem solving abilities, working independently on complex challenges, and communicating well with a variety of teams
- Detail oriented focus and organization skills needed for capital project support as well as continuous improvement opportunities.
- Experience with communicating with different teams and positions, showing flexibility to consider multiple perspectives and understand different viewpoints to best resolve problems.
- Capability to learn equipment operations, including computer programs, basic mechanical functions, and system integration.
- Confidence to challenge current processes and leave comfort zone when working on projects or other continuous improvement opportunities.
- Experience with data analysis, creating reports, and database management. Specifically, strong Excel skills are a minimum requirement.
- SQL knowledge and Power BI or Tableau would also be helpful, but not necessary.
