Position: Workday Application Engineer

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general direction of a Senior IT Manger or a Lead Application Engineer in the area of focus,
manages and maintains application-level software. Implements and maintains automated and
manual systems including specifying, testing, debugging, maintaining, and documenting system
applications. Uses broad working knowledge of data processing to facilitate the definition of
solutions to meet business requirements. Supports users working with assigned systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages and maintains systems in area of HCM including administration, configuration,
upgrades, maintenance, code migration, performance monitoring, system support, and end-
user support. Maintains the live systems including resolving operational problems and user
queries arising during day-to-day operations.
2. Manages the configuration of systems in area of focus such as bug analysis, patch testing and
application, and support requirements analysis and customization design.
3. Ensures the integrity, reliability, and availability of systems in area of focus with a goal
of maximizing system up-time.
4. Monitors and measures the performance and health of systems in area of focus and
responds accordingly when systems fail to meet desired metrics.
5. Reviews current and proposed software systems to ensure compatibility with other software
systems and future business needs.
6. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, works with managers and leads to define business
problems, configures software systems solutions, and ensures the integration of system in area
of focus.
7. Communicates with users and management staff throughout the life cycle of a given application
to ensure maximum productivity.
8. Configures, tests, debugs and documents complex programs using specialized computer
languages. Performs specialized configuration tasks requiring a high degree of technical
proficiency in such areas as database, data communications, servers. Identifies configuration
issues and corrective action to mitigate system impacts.
9. Provides emergency on-call response for one or more applications.
10. Performs research, analysis, reviews, and implements new functionality and new application
system modules. Ensures the implementation, configuration and framework of system is stable
and scalable.
11. Provides customized training and training documentation on current and future functionality of
supported software systems. Participates on cross-functional teams to implement improved
business solutions/business processes based on strategic plans.
12. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
? Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field.
? Three (3) years of support and integration work experience with Workday HCM systems.
? Possession of a valid class C drivers license.
? Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
? Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and current generation configuration framework.
? Knowledge of current computer technology.
? Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
? Ability to plan, control and develop time and cost estimates for project activities.
? Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and
outside the organization.
? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside the
organization.
? Knowledge of Workday HCM system.
? Ability to support integrations and data interfaces across the entire HCM system landscape
(monitoring, break-fix, and/or enhancement support)
? Ability to write and understand complex SQL statements.
? Knowledge of relational database management systems such as Oracle and SQL Server.
? Skills in TOAD, SQL Developer, Microsoft SQL Management Studio.
? Skills in configuration and support of the following areas of focus, including proficiency in the
applicable framework technologies listed:
o Design, development, testing, and deployment of integrations with Workday integrations
tools, web services, EIB, Workday Studio, DTI, Core Connectors.
o API (REST SOAP), XML, XSLT EDI, Web Services, Java, JSON.
o Creating custom fields using complex logic, advanced reporting, custom reports, BIRT.
