Our team is searching for an experienced, forward-looking Assistant Director of Engineering who’ll lead the overall maintenance team and our facilities, develop strategies to maximize our financial performance, and meticulously maintain the standards of all regulatory requirements.

We'd love to hear from you. Ongoing repair and maintenance of the entire hotel and F&B facilities including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs

Maintains effective Energy Management. Continuously looks for energy efficient solutions and Innovative projects

Regularly lead, mentor and coordinate activities of the engineering staff engaged in maintaining and repairing the physical structure of the building promptly and efficiently to the required standard

Conduct regular departmental meetings, performance evaluations and ensure ongoing development of Engineering team to ensure effective communication and standards are adhered to in the department

Oversee departmental budget under the direction of the Director of Engineering and Hotel Manager, including forecasting, budgeting, capital planning and proposals to ensure ongoing maintenance of the hotel

Ensure all local, state and federal law compliance and building codes are adhered to. Lead the hotels Fire Safety & Emergency Evacuation Teams.


POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Engineering Department functions in accordance with hotel standards. Directs implements and maintains a service and management philosophy, which serves as a guide to the respective staff.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and effectively plans, schedules, and evaluates all preventative maintenance programs.
  • Help establish priorities for total property maintenance needs.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of Engineering.
  • Manages the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems.
  • Maintains and operates equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
  • Manages distribution of repair orders.
  • Manages the maintenance of the grounds, meeting rooms, ballrooms, public space, restaurants, property vehicles and recreational facilities as needed.
  • Acts as technical liaisons for all departments in property.
  • Manages Engineering in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
  • Schedules for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
  • Selects and makes purchases of new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required.
  • Manage parts, supplies and equipment inventories effectively by minimizing downtime and maximizing cash flow.
  • Perform inspections effectively.
  • Evaluates and implements innovative technologies, equipment and supplies.
  • Assists in establishing and implementing an energy conservation program.
  • Ensure necessary permits and licenses for building and physical plant are obtained and kept current.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure all employees have the proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality by exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Manages staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met.
  • Train employees in safety procedures.
  • Manages and provides training other department employees in fire protection, safety, and evacuation procedures.
  • Provides feedback to employees based on observation of service behaviors.
  • Manages performing operational activities, as necessary.



REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Director Engineering. Has oversight for the Engineering Department.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS


  • A high school degree or GED; 5 years of experience in a comparable position and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of Engineering operations; demonstrated strong leadership skills; and proven achievements in optimizing guest and team member engagement and financial performance.
  • Experience successfully leading in a fast-paced environment and prioritizing demands.
  • Strong interpersonal, team member relations and leadership abilities.
  • Well versed in Engineering financial aspects
  • Technically savvy and familiar with Engineering operating/budgeting systems and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Professional & appropriate business appearance and demeanor aligned with the 1 Hotel brand and culture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.

PREFERRED:

  • Prior experience in a quality luxury hotel or restaurant brand; specifically in Engineering.

Fluency in a second language other than English.
