A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Financial Lines Attorney to join its established insurance practice. This position is based in Chicago, IL, and offers a hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will have experience in insurance litigation across various financial lines and will contribute to both client advocacy and the firm’s thought leadership efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney looking to advance their career in a dynamic and supportive environment.Duties:Provide expert legal counsel and representation in matters related to financial lines insurance coverage, including D&O liability, professional liability, employment practices, fidelity, and other specialty coverages.Lead and manage complex litigation, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and preparing motions.Conduct depositions, represent clients in hearings and mediations, and advocate in court.Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to develop strategic litigation plans and provide ongoing legal advice.Contribute to the firm’s business development initiatives by participating in marketing efforts, publishing articles, and attending industry conferences.Actively engage in professional associations and networking to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal trends and case law developments relevant to financial lines insurance.Requirements:Experience in insurance litigation, with a focus on financial lines (e.g., D&O, professional liability, and similar coverages).Strong track record in litigation, including taking and defending depositions, drafting complex legal documents, and arguing motions.Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with team members.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Proven interest in marketing and business development, including publication and professional association involvement.Admission to the Illinois State Bar (required).Additional bar admissions in other states are a plus.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Active membership in the Illinois State Bar (required).Additional bar memberships or certifications are beneficial.Skills:Expertise in financial lines insurance coverage and claims litigation.Advanced legal research, writing, and case management skills.Strong analytical skills with an ability to develop creative legal strategies.Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Excellent public speaking and client presentation skills.Ability to work well in both independent and team-oriented settings.Demonstrated interest in professional development and thought leadership within the insurance industry.This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Financial Lines Attorney to build a rewarding career with a forward-thinking law firm.
