Pay: $24.74 per hour + $0.90 Shift Premium

Shift Options:
- 1st Shift: 5:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM CST (Flexible Start Time)
- Must be available for overtime and Saturdays
Job Purpose: The Tool Grinder is responsible for setting up and operating one or more grinders to perform standard tool grinding operations.
Key Responsibilities: - Interpret blueprints, specifications, and instructions to prepare for grinding operations.
- Braze materials and tools as needed for grinding tasks.
- Set up and operate grinding equipment for surface, drill pointing, broach, hob, and similar operations on steel and carbide tools, dies, gauges, and form tools.
- Plan the sequence of operations, select work holding methods, and verify dimensional tolerances and tooling requirements.
- Select, dress, and mount grinding wheels, adjusting grind rotation, spindle speeds, feed rates, angles, and cycle length.
- Position blades, cams, diamonds, and stops, measuring workpieces to determine material removal.
- Place workpieces on the table, faceplate, magnetic chuck, or in fixtures.
- Start the machine, direct coolant flow, and monitor operations, performing secondary tasks to meet finish requirements.
- Obtain first-piece inspection approval and make necessary adjustments.
- Inspect finished work for conformance to specifications and place completed parts in designated areas.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, including cleaning, oiling, and changing wheels.
- Ensure all safety devices are functional and report any equipment issues to supervisors.
- Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, comparators, and band saws.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean work area.
- Assist other personnel and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of manual machining experience
- Proficiency with manual milling (facing, boring, drilling, tapping)
- Experience with manual lathes (turning, boring, single-point threading)
- Skilled in using measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators
- Strong blueprint reading skills and basic trigonometry/math proficiency
