Speech Language Pathology Advanced ICU Fellowship Requisition #: A-158943-11Status: Full TimeType: FellowshipSchool: School of MedicineDepartment/Program: Department of Physical Medicine and RehabilitationLocation State: MDClosing Date: 03/15/2025 at 11:59 PM US Eastern TimeThis is a 12-month position designed for speech-language pathologists who have completed their clinical fellowship, have a certificate of clinical competency from ASHA, and are eligible for Maryland state license. This intensive, ASHA-accredited fellowship program will allow you to participate in a clinical practice with a focus on evaluation and treatment of the ICU patient. The goal of this fellowship is to provide mentorship and advanced practice experience with a complex patient population in the intensive care unit and offer support to work toward completion of the Board Specialty Certification in Swallowing.We are excited that you are interested in applying for the Johns Hopkins Speech-Language Pathology Advanced ICU Fellowship Program. The goal of the program is to provide a supportive and challenging learning environment to foster the growth of advanced fellows to become experts in the field of medical speech pathology.It is designed to be an intensive 12-month program where clinical education is viewed as a dynamic process. Advanced fellows participate actively in learning to apply didactic information to clinical practice with patients who have a wide range of disorders, in the acute care intensive care unit setting with a focus on evaluation and treatment of the ICU patient.The goal is to prepare clinicians who demonstrate strengths in the following:The ability to analyze and synthesize information from a broad-based fund of knowledge in medical communication and swallowing science and disordersA problem-solving attitude of inquiry and decision making based on evidence-based practiceMotivation to achieve an advanced level of clinical competency in prevention, screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with medical communication and swallowing disordersThe ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a multidisciplinary health settingSelf-evaluation resulting in active steps to develop new skills & acquire knowledgeEthical, responsible, and professional conductThe fellowship is designed for speech-language pathologists who have completed their clinical fellowship, have a certificate of clinical competency from ASHA, are eligible for Maryland state license, and are eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by the PMR department.Application Instructions Please include the following in your application:A cover page with your name and date of application submissionA one-page statement (12 point font) of purpose describing your interest in the position, previous experience in medical speech pathology, goals for your career, and the qualities that make you a good candidate for the fellowshipResume with 3-4 references, please provide contact informationTwo letters of recommendation with at least one from a colleague/mentor that can speak to your clinical skillsTotal RewardsJohns Hopkins offers a total rewards package that supports our employees' health, life, career, and retirement.
