Description
This position is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients of the SIU Center for Family Medicine, a federally qualified health center and residency training program, in the inpatient setting. Duties will include a combination of patient care and teaching activities.
Examples of Duties
TEACHING (20%) A. Actively precept as teaching physician to residents on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service including direct patient care, procedural skills if appropriate, doctor-patient relationship/bedside manor, professionalism, ethical and legal considerations, billing and coding. B. Serve as mentor to family practice residents, including meeting with them on a regular basis to review their progress to counsel and advise them on any problems or issues, and appropriately document findings or results in their professional development folders. C. Conduct and supervise inpatient-teaching rounds. D. Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the residency program.
SERVICE (80%) A. Provide direct inpatient care to patients of the Center. B. Provide feedback and status of patients to their PCP. C. Participate in hospitalist family medicine call. D. Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities. E. Provide emergency services to patients as needed including those who are identified as having no primary care physician. F. Serve on the Center-wide Committees, as assigned. G. Serve on school and department committees, as assigned. I. Attend faculty meetings and resident conferences ADMINISTRATION (0%)

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. B. Must possess an MD/DO degree. C. Must have graduated from an accredited residency training program at time of hire D. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine at time of hire E. Licensed to practice Medicine in the state of Illinois at time of hire F. Must be willing to practice inpatient family medicine.
