About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Lab Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of a robotics hardware lab. In this role, you will ensure seamless workflows, adherence to safety standards, and effective team management to support cutting-edge research and engineering efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor lab technicians and support staff to maintain top-tier operational performance.
- Set clear performance metrics, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Oversee scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing for all lab activities.
2. Lab Operations & Efficiency:
- Maintain consistency across experiments by managing lab equipment and software configurations.
- Identify inefficiencies, develop streamlined workflows, and implement improvements to enhance lab productivity.
- Proactively address operational bottlenecks and implement solutions.
3. Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all lab activities align with safety regulations (OSHA and company policies).
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to uphold a safe working environment.
- Act as the primary point of contact for incident management and resolution.
4. Inventory & Resource Management:
- Oversee inventory levels, procurement processes, and vendor relationships.
- Track and document hardware assets and supplies to maintain accuracy.
- Optimize resource allocation to meet evolving project requirements.
5. Data Collection & Reporting:
- Supervise data collection workflows to ensure precision and compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to refine data reporting frameworks.
- Provide stakeholders with regular operational updates and actionable insights.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in lab operations, facilities management, or a related field, preferably in a robotics or hardware environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in team leadership and optimizing workflows.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements for technical lab environments.
- Familiarity with technical documentation and process improvement frameworks (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Industry experience in robotics or hardware manufacturing.
- Proficiency with automation systems and lab management software.
- Hands-on experience with project management tools and tracking systems.
