Job Summary:
A growing manufacturing company is seeking a
Purchasing Specialist to manage procurement activities and supplier relationships. This role involves sourcing materials, negotiating contracts, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring timely deliveries to support production. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and purchase raw materials, components, and supplies to meet production demands.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Process and manage purchase orders , ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Track and manage order statuses , ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
- Resolve supplier issues , including delays, defective materials, or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and update data in the ERP system .
- Evaluate supplier performance and assist in identifying new sources to improve cost savings and efficiency.
- Conduct market research to stay informed on pricing trends and supply chain developments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience , preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
