Our esteemed client in Bergen County, New Jersey is looking for a Senior Commercial Credit Analyst to join there organization. The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for conducting complex credit investigations and analyzing financial data to assess the creditworthiness of commercial loan applicants. This role involves preparing detailed credit memorandums, supporting loan officers with credit decisions, performing annual reviews, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will also mentor junior credit analysts and contribute to the continuous improvement of the credit review process.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Analysis & Development

• Conduct in-depth credit and financial analysis to assist loan officers and committees in lending decisions.
• Review credit and financial information, analyze financial statements, and determine creditworthiness.
• Investigate credit sources and agency reports to compile comprehensive borrower profiles.
• Utilize financial statement spreading programs to prepare debt service calculations for borrowers and guarantors.
• Ensure compliance with all financial covenants, policy requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Annual Credit File Reviews

• Perform annual reviews of existing commercial loan portfolios to assess risk.
• Analyze cash flow trends, conduct stress testing, and perform industry analysis to identify potential risk factors.
• Recommend and justify risk rating changes when necessary.

Loan Officer Support

• Accompany loan officers on customer meetings and site visits.
• Prepare talking points regarding the client’s business operations and financial standing.

Team Development

• Mentor and support junior credit analysts in developing their analytical and financial skills.

Other Responsibilities

• Participate in special projects and provide assistance to loan officers as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years as a Commercial Credit Analyst.
• Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong understanding of commercial loan products, policies, and federal regulations.
• Proven ability to analyze financial statements and assess credit risk.
• Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and underwriting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments effectively.
