Job Summary
Our General Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice, responses, and representation to our company, pertaining to all of our employment practices. This entails direct collaboration with our Executive and Human Resources Teams, to maintain compliance, training, and proper drafting of necessary responses to employees and/or employees’ counsel. Additionally, Our General Counsel will be reviewing, revising, and composing various contracts & policies pertaining to both our internal policies and agreements with vendors/third parties. It is the primary function of General Counsel to ensure that our business and employment practices are compliant, strategic, and protected.
Responsibilities will primarily include, but may not be limited to:
- Compliance: Monitoring, reviewing, and advising the Executive team on all current applicable regulations, laws, and practices, and how to best apply them to the business.
- Employment/Personnel Advice: Providing legal counsel regarding escalated employee relations that require specific strategies to properly address.
- Contractual Drafting: Composing, reviewing, or revising a variety of contracts between Anthem and its employees, clients, vendors, and any other applicable third parties
- Litigation/Representation: Support and represent ATS in any/all legal disputes from employees, clients, and/or third parties. This includes pre-litigation, discovery, settlement negotiations, outside counsel collaboration, and applicable trials if necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active member of the CA State Bar
- Proficient understanding of and experience with corporate law, employment law, and contract law
- US Tax experience preferred but not required
- 5+ Years experience in legal representation and/or advisory for medium-large size employers
- Exceptional analytical, communicative, and literary skills, applicable to legal studies & practice
