Client Manager – Accounting & Tax | Leadership Opportunity

About the Role
We are hiring a client manager to oversee accounting, bookkeeping, tax planning, and tax preparation for a portfolio of 75-125 clients. This role requires strong client relationship management, technical accounting expertise, and team leadership skills. With structured training and mentorship, this role provides a pathway to partnership within 3-5 years based on performance and client portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring exceptional service and smooth transitions.
- Manage bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, financial statements, and tax compliance, including 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S returns.
- Delegate tasks, train bookkeepers, and implement process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency.
Who We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience managing accounting teams and client accounts.
- CPA firm experience is required; private industry backgrounds will not be considered.
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals (debits & credits); tax experience is preferred but can be trained.
- Degree in accounting required, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Excellent communication skills; client interaction is a key part of the role.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, meet deadlines, and ensure high-quality service.
What to Expect
- Onsite role – no remote work available.
- 250+ hours of overtime required during tax season (January – April).
- Overtime beyond 250 hours is compensated at regular hourly pay (not time and a half).
