Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Pastry Sous Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in assisting the Executive Pastry Chef with daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all food preparation meets our high standards of quality and presentation. This position requires a strong understanding of food safety practices, pastry techniques, and the ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Oversee food handling practices to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Pastry Chef to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes.
- Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients.
- Participate in catering events as needed, showcasing skills in diverse settings.
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation within a professional kitchen setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in the food industry.
- Pastry degree or equivalent experience preferred; additional skills in baking are a plus.
- Familiarity with various cooking techniques and equipment, including knife skills.
- Experience in catering is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
