Position Function Install, calibrate, modify, maintain, start up and repair mission critical instrumentation and equipment associated with process control and monitoring, measurement and the City's SCADA system.
Tasks/Duties - Install, calibrate and maintain instrumentation, SCADA system, computer equipment, hardware and software and associated equipment to meet applicable industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and mandatory requirements established by State and Federal regulatory authorities and operating permits.
- Interpret requirements and design and recommend modification to existing instrumentation and control systems as necessary to meet regulatory and operational requirements for monitoring and controlling.
- Establish, maintain and perform comprehensive preventative maintenance procedures for assigned areas of responsibility and maintain report and maintenance records. Inspect instrumentation for proper calibration and operation and perform corrections as necessary. Maintain inspection and calibration records.
- Prepare budget requirements for review for test and repair equipment, materials, spare parts and equipment, training and education.
- Acquire/repair materials and parts as necessary. Establish and maintain inventory of repair maintenance components.
- Establish and maintain library of operating and repair manuals, as-built drawings, schematic drawings, etc.
- Understand and interpret schematics and block diagrams.
- Use senses to recognize and identify potential problem situations with facilities and/or equipment, including interpretation of logs and/or reports. Provide supervisory personnel with concise descriptions of potential problems and possible fixes as applicable.
- Instruct personnel, as assigned, on procedures relating to operation and calibration of instruments, associated equipment and the SCADA system.
- Utilize computerized maintenance system software to maintain accurate inventory, software licensing, enter work orders for all repairs, to record troubleshooting and repair methods, and close out completed work. Through the Infrastructure Asset Management Coordinator, maintain updated equipment list (serial numbers, manufacturer, model, etc.) as equipment is added, deleted or modified.
- Acquire/Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of PLC/Logic, and SCADA and Security software applications used by Public Works Department, and provide users with assistance and/or training when requested.
- Assist with development and implementation of enhanced SCADA monitoring and control functions for the facilities.
- Minor excavation and digging for installation or maintenance of electrical conduit, small diameter piping, and cables.
- Participate in the on call duty rotation. Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as outline in standard operating procedures and as applicable to the task and the conditions.
- Drive to and from job sites to perform installation and maintenance of instrumentation and associated hardware/software.
- In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
- Complete required trainings as specified within the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Two (2) years documented experience in electronics technology and circuitry or testing and calibration.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to identify and distinguish color.
- Valid driver license. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS: - Two (2) years schooling or training in the field of electronics/ instrumentation or computer science at an accredited university, college, or technical school.
- Experience in developing and using PC-based database applications.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Documentation and diagramming skills.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronics to the component level.
- Two (2) years experience configuring, installing and monitoring Windows-based PCs in a networking environment.

Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).
Position is considered at-risk for exposure to Hepatitis A and B during performance of regular duties. An acceptance/declination of vaccination form is required upon hire.
