Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented Electrical Hardware Engineer to design, develop, and support handheld network testing products. This includes designing embedded hardware subsystems, collaborating with software engineers, troubleshooting systems, and modifying existing hardware platforms. The engineer will be responsible for schematic entry, PCB layout oversight, FPGA VHDL design, power supply design, and high-speed interface development!
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop hardware systems, including circuit boards, processors, memory subsystems, LCDs, touch screens, and high-speed network interfaces using Cadence Allegro tools.
- Develop analog circuits for rechargeable batteries, low voltage power supplies, USB power delivery, and power-over-ethernet systems.
- Maintain FPGA designs (VHDL) for custom high-speed Ethernet packet processing and analysis.
- Create hardware design specifications and documentation.
- Collaborate with software developers to create low-level hardware drivers and software support.
- Work with PCB layout resources to ensure signal integrity and meet routing requirements.
- Interact with PCB layout and manufacturing teams for fabrication and testing.
- Implement design changes for existing products when component or product issues arise.
- Specify new parts, vendors, and schematic part symbols.
- Use PLM systems to manage component specifications and bills of materials.
- Collaborate with component vendors to select and prepare detailed specifications for new components.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with PCB/A design for high-speed networking interfaces and embedded CPU subsystems.
- Expertise in Cadence Allegro schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Experience with Altera and/or Xilinx VHDL and FPGA design.
- Knowledge of high-speed communication bus design (USB, PCIe, XFI).
- Familiarity with DDR2/DDR3 memory design, I2C, and SPI buses.
- Experience with hardware debugging equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
- Familiarity with EMI/ESD compliance testing and mitigation strategies.
Education and Experience:
- BS or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in hardware engineering.
