Job Description What you will be doing: - Perform preventative maintenance on industrial electrical equipment per NETA MTS/ATS standards.
- Perform protective relay installations, conversions, and retrofits.
- Conduct power system functional and acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs of low and medium voltage breakers, switches, and motor control starters.
- Perform various types of electrical testing including, but not limited to: Power factor testing, Sweep frequency testing, Relay testing, Primary & Secondary injection testing, Partial discharge testing, Thermal Imaging, AC/DC/Synchronous motor and generator testing, and Battery & UPS system maintenance & testing.
- Test and troubleshoot multiple types of low and medium voltage equipment, including but not limited to: Dry type and oil filled transformers, Electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based protective relays, Switches, switchboards, breakers, and metering devices, and Variable frequency drives and soft starters.
- Conduct oil sampling of transformers and other oil filled equipment.
- Lead onsite projects with multiple technicians.
- Interact with clients in a professional manner.
- Drive a company vehicle to customer sites and maintain a clean, safe driving record.
- Maintain a clean company vehicle and ensure proper maintenance.
- Operate in a safe manner, adhering to company and client rules and regulations.
- Respond to emergency calls as necessary to support clients.
Experience you will need: - Three or more years of hands-on technical experience in the testing industry.
- A technical degree is preferred but not required.
- Leadership experience is beneficial.
- Previous experience working in a substation environment is preferred.
- Expected to certify as a minimum NICET Level 3 testing technician.
- Ability to read, understand, and update all types of electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of and understanding arc flash, power system, and power flow studies.
- A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.
- Willingness to travel across multiple states to support clients.
- Air travel may be necessary at times.
- May be required to work weekends and holidays depending on client needs.
- Possess a certification or be willing to become certified in: First aid/CPR, Mobile lift operation, Power industrial truck operation, OSHA 30, TWIC access (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam.
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods.
- Ability to perform manual labor for up to 12 or more hours per day.
- Acute hearing and strong field of vision.
- Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Successful completion of background investigation.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.
