JOB DESCRIPTIONAnalyzing the chemical constituents of the patient's body fluidsCross-matching donor blood for transfusionsDetermining blood-clotting abnormalitiesTesting blood for drug levels to determine the effectiveness of treatments.Evaluating test results for accuracy and interpreting them for the physicianOperating sophisticated lab equipment such as cell counters and microscopesStoring and retrieving equipment and chemicals according to the manufacturer's specificationsLogging data from medical tests and entering results into a patient's medical record.Discussing the results and findings of lab tests and procedures with physiciansQUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical, physical, clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution required.Must meet the required qualifications for being an individual responsible for competency assessment and have the education and experience to evaluate the complexity of testing being assessed as defined by CAP (College of American Pathologist).Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification is strongly preferred.American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.Education:
