Department ITS LeadershipSummaryReporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Associate Vice President for Information Technology, the Deputy CIO serves as a key strategic technology leader, offering expertise in both strategic planning and operational oversight. This role collaborates extensively with campus technology shared governance structures and acts as a strategic business relationship manager, engaging with university leadership, administration, deans, faculty, and students to provide technology guidance and direction across all levels and areas of the institution.The Deputy CIO directly oversees critical practice areas, including Project and Portfolio Management, Product Management, and Enterprise Applications.ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a diverse team of full- and part-time IT professionals, providing guidance to your directors and managers, to foster professional development and growth opportunities for your staff.Provide strategic leadership and guidance in key areas of technology administration and development, aligning IT initiatives with the university's overall strategic goals.Ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability through preparation and management of annual departmental budget, authorizing expenditures, and maintaining robust budget controls.Represent the IT division on various university committees, actively participate in relevant external conferences and meetings, and cultivate strong professional networks with peers and leaders both within and outside the university.Proactively identify and evaluate emerging technology trends and opportunities, managing key vendor relationships and supporting contract negotiations for enterprise applications.Partner with the CIO and other senior ITS leaders to optimize IT business operations, focusing on enhancing service quality and overall IT operational effectiveness across the institution.Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, and standards.Contribute to the development and execution of the university's IT strategic plan.Travel Requirement: Occasional/annual travel to conferences with overnight stays.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Minimum of 12 years of progressive professional IT experience, with at least 6 years in information technology management, information systems development, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in personnel management, including performance management, coaching, and mentoring.Demonstrated experience in technology strategy development, budget management, and financial planning.Proven experience in technical project management methodologies and execution.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.Important Note:
