Job Details
The Audit Manager oversees the audit process while helping clients solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. They provide valuable insights in managing risk and improving business performance and overall financial reporting processes. They are responsible for Associates’ professional development and coaching. The Audit Manager is heavily involved in new and existing client business development and community involvement activities. They provide exceptional client service as a trusted business advisor.
ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise the execution of audit engagements of clients across multiple industriesReview and audit business transaction cycles such as treasury, cash, capital expenditures, and other income and expensesCollaborate to plan engagement objectives and an audit strategy that complies with professional standards and appropriately addresses riskUnderstand the scope of the engagement and provide input on client retention and fee structureParticipate in the presentation of client financial statements and audit results to those responsible with client oversightVisit client onsite for required audits and/or other financial inquiries as neededAnswer client calls and emails in a timely manner and with a solution-oriented approachProduce and review quality service and statements in a timely mannerResearch audit issues and review financial information in audit softwareRead prior year financial statements and client website and actively seek out information from team members to gain understanding of client business and industryProactively inform engagement team of work status and request information from client as neededEnsure client deliverables are met within expectations and set deadlinesIdentify and introduce other firm services based on client needs and discovered opportunitiesSupervise Associates and Interns on engagements and provide guidance on an ongoing basis; as well as actively communicate with engagement PartnersLead in business development and community activities to help identify and research opportunities on new and existing clientsKeep up to date with local and national business and economic issuesParticipate in continuous learning activities and active research to improve and develop technical expertise; apply learned conceptsCollaborate with leader to identify opportunities for efficiencies and proactive engagement management
Education, Experience and CertificationsBachelor’s degree in AccountingCPA certification required5+ years’ experience in preparation of reviewed and compiled financial statements and applied working knowledge of US GAAP preferredPrior experience in coaching and training entry-level accounting professionals requiredDemonstrated ability to take the lead on client engagements and develop new and existing businessWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products and technologically-savvySelf-motivated and willingness to enhance accounting and advisory knowledgeExcellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects
