Volt's client is hiring an External Reporting Manager, CPA in Spokane, WA

This role is ONSITE in Spokane, WA

This is a Direct Hire opportunity.

Job Description

The External Reporting Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the company’s financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory standards. This position operates with the primary responsibility for preparation and filing of Avista’s financial statements and other required reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Complexity of work is advanced and requires significant experience and knowledge of the job.

Responsibilities

- Manages and completes the preparation of Avista’s external financial statements and other reports filed with the SEC, including the 8-K, 10-Q and 10-K fillings.
- Serves as a key participant in the preparation of quarterly earnings press releases and the associated conference call scripts.
- Presents to the Board of Director’s Audit Committee as it relates to external financial reporting.
- Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations and maintains up-to-date knowledge on changes in accounting standards.
- Establish and monitor controls to evaluate and achieve the highest levels of performance in external reporting.
- Work closely with investor relations, corporate communications, external auditors and legal teams for public disclosures and statements.
- Creates analysis to support corporate objectives and management decision-making.
- Reviews financial statement support and documentation provided by other departments.
- Researches and documents accounting positions, policies, and new transactions based on GAAP and various regulatory requirements, guidelines, and best practices.
- Maintains and/or modifies systematic consolidations and eliminations within the financial accounting system.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in accounting or a related field.
- Public accounting and/or external financial reporting experience preferred.
- A CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated advanced level of technical expertise, analytical skills, and independent decision making.
- Ability to demonstrate an advanced level of initiative, ownership and accountability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

External Reporting Manager:

- 5+ years of progressive responsibility in accounting.
- Considerable knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and regulatory rules/regulations is required.

Sr. External Reporting Manager:

- 8+ years of progressive responsibility in accounting.
- Ability to build and maintains relationships with both internal and external groups to facilitate the external reporting process.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and regulatory rules/regulations is required.
- Ability to effectively plan work activities, schedules, priorities and utilization of resources.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.

Salary: $92,805 to $138,852

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
