POSITION SUMMARYThe Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for the administrative and financial operations of the company, including the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Supervise, manage, support, and motivate employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting duties – and facilitate appropriate training and development where needed.RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIESAssist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiativesMonitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plansDevelop financial and tax strategiesManage the capital request and budgeting processesParticipate in key decisions as a member of the executive management teamMaintain in-depth relations with all members of the management teamImplement operational best practicesSupervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitionsOversee the issuance of financial informationMonitor cash balances and cash forecastsArrange for debt and equity financingMaintain banking relationshipsExecute Finance initiatives without approvalWork with department heads on developing budget plansWork with human resources on developing benefit strategies keeping group insuranceDevelop performance measures that support the company's strategic directionCoordinate and direct the financial planning/forecasting, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities of all or part of an organizationDevelop and maintain a complete set of guidelines, procedures, and internal controls for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, procurement, and accountingMaintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standardsPrepare or direct preparation of timely financial statement reporting and analysis, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agenciesProactively seek and pursue opportunities to improve planning, forecasting, and reporting processesProvide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resourcesAnalyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is neededAdvise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actionsMonitor financial activities and details such as cash flow and reserve levels to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met and that optimum returns on available resources are achievedEvaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendationsMonitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissalsDevelop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities and optimize the treasury functionReceive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and proceduresResponsible for the receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds, securities, and financial instrumentsConduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutesAssess return on investment for planned capital expenditures, lease/buy decisions, product development/enhancement initiatives, and sales and marketing programs – then track actual ROI to projectedEDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCEThe Chief Financial Officer should have a master's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Should have experience in partnering with an executive team and possess a high level of written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.CAPABILITIES/SKILLSExtensive experience working with financial systems, especially QuickBooksExcellent computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Outlook), ERP systems, and QuickBooks EnterpriseStrong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic work environmentExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicateDemonstrate a proficient level of professional skills
