Responsibilities
* Prepare medications according to physician orders under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
* Unit Dose: Fill, package, distribute, label, and scan medications. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients using proper equipment and techniques. Sign in, load, and refill automated dispensing machines. Conduct basic inventory of CII safe.
* IV Room: Using aseptic techniques, prepare and label intravenous admixtures and other sterile products. Fill syringes and reconstitute small volume injectable pharmaceuticals for subsequent check and dispensing by a pharmacist. Maintain equipment according to procedure.
* Outpatient RX Area: Select prescription items for customers, ring the register, and complete Ohio State Board requirements with each sale (limited to trained staff).
* Utilize technology in the department, including patient information lookup, In-Basket RX messages, compounding repackaging, and label printing in Epic and Wasplabeler DP Tracker.
* Transport medications from the pharmacy to areas outside, ensuring correct delivery times and locations.
* Assist the Pharmacist in daily activities, including answering telephones and relaying messages.
* Re-order drugs and supplies when stock is low, rotate stock, check expiration dates, and maintain a clean assigned area.
* Perform receptionist duties at the RX window, distribute medications and orders, and assist with any issues.
* Maintain a safe environment according to policy and procedure.
* Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Pharmacy, Assistant Director, Operations Coordinator, Technician Supervisor, and Pharmacists.
Qualifications
* Responsible for handling cash related to selling prescriptions or other pharmacy items.
* Education: High school diploma or GED.
* Experience: Pharmacy technician experience preferred.
* Licenses & Certifications: Passed an examination approved by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, PTCB/CPhT. Must register as Technician in Training with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy if not currently registered. Upon completion of training, complete registration as Certified Technician with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. Maintain active certification.
