Job Description

Shipping and Receiving Assistant
8 am - 5 pm
$18.00
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform final quality check, to include labels, of finished goods prior to loading material for customer destination. Report any discrepancies immediately, prior to loading.
  • If needed, coordinate product repair of minor non-conformity prior to loading.
  • As needed, palletize and wrap rolls to pallets.
  • Inspect trailers prior to loading and report findings on the Truck Driver's Log. If a truck fails, contact the freight company and report it to sales.
  • Industrial truck operations, to include roll scanning operations, loading and unloading incoming and outgoing freight. Outgoing orders should be shipped first in, first out unless designated differently by customer. (Make sure all trailers / trucks are chocked prior to loading / unloading).
  • Prepare and maintain required shipping documents (production/shipping checklist, end of order form, packing list, bill of lading, etc.). With receipt from Lab, indicate Certificate of Analysis receipt on Orders on the Floor for inventory orders, and don't ship orders without COA authorization.
  • Assist with requesting and organizing customer shipping arrangements as instructed from the commercial sales department (Production Order and Shipping Instructions Spreadsheet). When required, obtain price quotes and notify the commercial sales department of pertinent information. (Copy the bookkeeping department on all selected quotes.)
  • For outgoing orders, submit daily all shipping documents to the administrative assistant - sales.
  • Assist with coordinating / assigning designation of warehouse aisles.
  • Assist with providing aisle assignments to production for finished goods storage.
  • Unload, inspect, as feasible, and handle receiving documentation for incoming products, and distribute receipts and documentation accordingly.
  • Receipt, storage and inventory of finished goods, raw materials, packaging supplies, and pallets.
  • As required, manage receipts in accordance with the MSDS Work Instruction.
  • Maintain the finished goods warehouse, aisles, pallets, raw and packaging materials in an orderly, neat condition.
  • Restock unused master batch and additives as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining various spreadsheets: Orders on the Floor, Shipped Log, Shipping Schedule, Line 3 Base Rolls, Weekly and Monthly Inventory, Import Tracking (as needed), etc.
  • Assist with preparing weekly, month end and year-end inventory
  • Provide detailed and thorough communication to the Shipping / Receiving Supervisor and Assistant.
  • Promote and participate in a safe and positive team atmosphere.
  • By all company policies and procedures, and demonstrate a professional, courtesy manner to all employees, customers, vendors, and visitors.
  • If job related and/or personnel issues arise, notify the Shipping / Receiving Supervisor and/or Office Manager immediately.
  • Adjust the department's work time accordingly to manage the tasks / requirements.

  • Coordinate activities of the Shipping / Receiving Assistants.
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures, and demonstrate a professional, courtesy manner to all employees, customers, vendors, and visitors.
  • If job related and/or personnel issues arise, notify the Shipping / Receiving Supervisor and/or Office Manager immediately.
  • Assist with other projects / tasks as may be required.
  • Adjust the department's work time accordingly to manage the tasks / requirements.
