Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate for Public Agency Clients in California.
An immediate opportunity is available for an associate with 2-4 years of litigation experience to join a firm representing public agencies such as cities, counties, transit agencies, and public pension plans . This role involves working on a wide range of cutting-edge disputes in environmental law, water law, public records, construction, real estate, and more.
Key Responsibilities:

• Represent public agencies in litigation actions (both as defendants and plaintiffs).
• Handle matters related to environmental rules, water law, construction, breach of contract , and constitutional issues.
• Draft and respond to discovery, pleadings, briefs, and motions in state and federal court.
• Manage multiple cases efficiently and take ownership of significant projects.

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of litigation experience , with a focus on public agency or similar issues preferred.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills .
• Experience with eDiscovery and depositions is preferred.
• Admission to the California Bar is required.

Location & Compensation:

• This position is available in San Francisco or Los Angeles .
• Salary range: $175,000 - $195,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications.
• Associates are eligible for various annual bonuses , including a 15% bonus of base compensation for meeting 1,850 annual billable hours (up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work included).
