Position Summary:

As the Bar Lead at the newest addition to The Salt Shed , you will serve as a role model for the bar team and act as an extension of management. This laid-back neighborhood bar offers great drinks, good vibes, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’re all about fun, games, and creating a space to unwind. This exciting new concept will be an electrifying hub for entertainment and connection. The Bar Lead is the best all-around bar and service member on the team, setting the standard for speed, technique, cleanliness, service, and hospitality. You will lead by example, earning the trust and respect of your team through consistency, dependability, accountability, and clear communication.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure all food, drinks, and steps of service are executed consistently and at the highest level every time.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all service and BOH areas 
  • Train new service team members and provide ongoing training for existing team members.
  • Ensure inventory levels are aligned with demand to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Assist with accurate POS product management and counts.
  • Support in developing and adjusting pars for glassware, dry goods, garnishes, batches, etc.
  • Assist with creating and updating opening, closing, and side work checklists.
  • Check side work completion before servers, bartenders, and barbacks clock out.
  • Communicate menu counts and any description updates to staff.
  • Manage floor plan fluidity and oversee furniture placement as needed.
  • Assist with staff cuts and manage breaks effectively.
  • Conduct table touches to address quick-fixable problems and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with bar prep as needed.
  • Support menu development, research, and development.
  • Occasionally work special events scheduled throughout the venue.

Managerial Duties when Scheduled:

  • Set the vibe, including music, lighting, and overall atmosphere.
  • Provide full staff support beyond bartenders and servers, including food runners, bussers, door staff, and hosts.
  • Ensure seamless interdepartmental communication for smooth service operations.
  • Maintain manager log notes for shift records.
  • Enforce operational standards, rules, and regulations through closing.
  • Monitor guest interactions and intoxication levels, reporting security issues as needed.
  • Document all incidents, especially those involving guest issues or law enforcement.
  • Oversee and execute closing procedures efficiently.


About You:

  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails and bar operations.
  • Ability to work late hours and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Experience using a point-of-sale system.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Capable of handling intoxicated guests professionally and safely.
  • Open to all cultures, music, and art forms.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Current BASSET and Food Handler certifications or ability to obtain before starting employment.
