Senior Mechanical Engineer - Sustainable Engineering & MEP Design
Location: Hoboken, NJ (Hybrid - 2-3 Days On-Site)

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading sustainable engineering and energy efficiency consulting firm in their Hoboken, NJ office . This firm specializes in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineering , with a strong focus on healthcare, educational, and commercial projects . The role offers the opportunity to work on energy-efficient solutions, sustainable design, and building system optimization while requiring 2-3 days on-site per week , allowing for a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems for new construction, renovations, and energy efficiency upgrades.
  • Oversee HVAC system design, load calculations, energy modeling, and system optimization to improve building performance.
  • Conduct facility assessments, energy audits, and feasibility studies to identify opportunities for sustainability improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, architects, contractors, and clients to deliver innovative and cost-effective mechanical solutions.
  • Perform commissioning and retro-commissioning to ensure optimal performance of building systems.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, sustainability standards, and energy codes to drive forward-thinking engineering solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on HVAC design, energy efficiency, and sustainable building systems .
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling software (such as eQUEST or Trane TRACE).
  • Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards, IECC, and LEED principles .
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
