Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for creating, monitoring, and maintaining the processes and programs that control the pharmacy inventory across all pharmacy business units in the Company. Responsible for planning and directing the development and implementation of new business concepts, including discovering external software solutions and negotiating for purchasing such resources.
Job Responsibilities
- Creates, enhances, tests, audits, and assists in the implementation of mathematical models/algorithms to control the ordering and distribution of pharmaceutical products for all pharmacy-related business units in the Company.
- Leads simulation techniques designed to estimate the effect and benefit of new ideas and monitors, analyzes, and adjusts system parameters which control the levels of pharmacy inventory in these units.
- Maintains a full knowledge of the current Walgreen central ordering system applications as they relate to pharmacy inventory.
- Leads cross-functional project groups across the Pharmacy Purchasing and Supply Chain organization, Retail and Customer Solutions: Inventory Systems Development-Forecasting Replenishment Systems organization, Loss Prevention, Results, Logistics and Transportation team, Pharmacy Services to develop and implement new pharmacy inventory management programs.
- Identifies projects, articulates value propositions, identifies systems and processes to be addressed, formulates the benefit case, involves the appropriate departments, manages execution and completion, and measures the impact upon implementation. Creates, updates, and reviews with management, team work plans and progress.
- Maintains awareness of external inventory management systems and their application to current industry trends.
- Engages outside companies to investigate potential synergies, tests and audits these applications in the Walgreen store environment, and makes recommendations on collaborations. If necessary, negotiates purchase and implementation of resources.
- Responsible for work leadership and training to other members of Rx Purchasing, including members of the management, analyst, and coordinator groups.

External Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years experience working in store operations or developing/utilizing an inventory management system.
- At least 2 years of experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
- Experience using business analytical skills including facilitating requirements sessions and documenting activity workflows and business requirements.
- Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
- Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
- Experience with analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- Experience in indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training, and assignment of work/projects to other members of a team.
- Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Pharmacy.
- Advanced degree in Math or Statistics.
- Experience using the Walgreens SIMS system.
- Knowledge of Computer Programming.
