Senior AI Engineer - Healthcare Compliance Automation

Remote or in Tampa

Salary Range: $150,000 to $250,000++

Company Overview:

Harnham is partnering with a healthcare innovator integrating AI into clinical workflows. They are launching an AI initiative to automate the review of healthcare chart notes while ensuring compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and coding regulations.

They seek a highly skilled AI/NLP Engineer with expertise in healthcare, NLP, and regulatory compliance to develop an AI tool for automated medical documentation review and compliance checks .

This founding role offers significant growth potential , shaping the future of AI-driven healthcare compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop AI Models: Build and deploy NLP models to analyze clinical notes for compliance.
  • Ensure Compliance: Integrate HIPAA, CMS, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS regulations into AI tools.
  • Optimize NLP Pipelines: Improve NER, medical coding validation, and documentation auditing.
  • EHR Integration: Collaborate to embed AI into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Data Security: Define protocols ensuring privacy, security, and ethical AI use.
  • Collaborate with Experts: Work with medical coders, compliance officers, and clinicians.
  • Lead AI Strategy: Establish a roadmap to scale AI into a full department.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or related field .
  • 5+ years of AI/ML experience in healthcare or regulatory compliance .
  • Proficiency in NLP models (BERT, BioBERT, GPT, LLaMA, or similar).
  • Skilled in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers .
  • Experience with FHIR, HL7, and EHR integration .
  • Knowledge of LLM fine-tuning for medical applications (a plus).
  • Expertise in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), CMS compliance, and HIPAA .
  • Experience in clinical text processing, NER, and automated audits .
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to lead and scale AI strategy.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills .
  • Ability to simplify AI concepts for non-technical stakeholders .
