Paralegal - Corporate, Risk and Compliance

About the role:

We’re seeking a Paralegal – Corporate, Risk and Compliance to play a key role in supporting the compliance, contract management, corporate governance and risk management that are overseen by the Transurban, North America legal team.

Day-to-day, you will manage the running of the legal team by doing the following:

  • Support the Head of Compliance and Privacy as required to ensure Transurban North America is meeting its compliance obligations.
  • Advise and assist the business units on compliance activities.
  • Review legal documents for the purposes of complying with contractual obligations, including the management of legal review for complex contracts with appropriate internal or external legal counsel.
  • Assist in the drafting of legal documents, including shareholder and manager resolutions and written consents.
  • Coordinate entity management for all subsidiaries in all jurisdictions including annual reports and other filings in conjunction with registered agent.
  • Manage and have primary responsibility for all document management systems to ensure that all legal documents are properly filed and accessible to the members of the legal team and to the broader business.
  • Reviewing concession agreements and project financing documents to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Engage with and advise the North America executives and leadership teams on all risk related matters including emerging and strategic risks and know when to pursue relevant risk management implementation on broader Transurban projects and acquisitions.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experience, including:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a paralegal in a corporate and/or commercial practice in an in-house or large law firm environment.
  • Demonstrated experience being flexible and adapting to shifting priorities, while actively contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Exemplary attention to detail and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively working with people at all levels of an organization, including senior executives and board members.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, preferred.
