Job Description

Allient-Rochester (formerly ORMEC Systems, Inc.), a subsidiary of Allient Inc., specializing in motion control systems, including motion controllers, servo drives, motors, and integrated automation solutions is looking for a Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team! The Electrical Engineering Technician will be supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and components. Apply now!


Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and rework electronic and electromechanical products, support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Procure components, prepare build kits, and assemble prototype circuit boards.
  • Construct electronic and electromechanical assemblies, including circuit board stack-ups, wiring, and mechanical assembly.
  • Assemble and solder wiring harnesses and connectors.
  • Set up, perform, and document tests and experiments in accordance with engineering specifications.
  • Prepare assembly instructions, bills of materials (BOMs), test reports, and nonconformance reports.
  • Perform equipment calibrations, modify procedures as needed, and maintain calibration records.
  • Review designs, provide technical expertise, and recommend design modifications.
  • Maintain and organize laboratory work and storage areas.
  • Adhere to Allient-Rochester’s Environmental Health and Safety plans and Quality Control systems.


Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional experience with electronic test instrumentation (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes); ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals; experience troubleshooting and repairing circuit boards and assemblies; proficiency in hand soldering small components and using basic hand and power tools.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Over 3 years of post-academic electronics industry experience.
  • Experience with Mechanical Computer-Aided Design (MCAD) or Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD).
  • Familiarity with working safely with line voltage levels in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Experience in setting up and conducting tests per engineering requirements.
  • Proven ability to produce detailed and accurate documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing work and storage areas.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and effective time management skills.
