Job Summary: The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of control systems for our robotic and PLC-based manufacturing lines. This role involves ensuring seamless integration of new technologies, optimizing system performance, and troubleshooting issues to maintain high production efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement Control Systems:
- Develop and program control systems for robotic applications and PLCs to automate manufacturing processes.
- Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and schematics using CAD software.
- System Integration:
- Integrate new robotic systems and PLCs into existing production lines.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability between various control systems and machinery.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve issues with control systems to minimize downtime.
- Perform regular maintenance checks and updates to system software and hardware.
- Optimization:
- Analyze performance data to identify opportunities for improving efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Implement changes to enhance system capabilities, including speed, accuracy, and energy efficiency.
- Project Management:
- Lead or support automation projects from concept through to completion, ensuring they meet timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, production staff, and external vendors.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, modifications, and maintenance activities.
- Develop and update technical documentation, including manuals, procedures, and training materials.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Participate in safety audits and contribute to safety protocol development.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in controls engineering with a focus on robotics and PLCs in an automotive or similar manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with industrial robotics (e.g., ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, Yaskawa), PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), and HMI development.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.
- Experience with CAD software for electrical designs (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, network communications, and industrial protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
