Environment Artist


We are seeking an inspiring and highly motivated Environment Artist. In this role, you will collaborate with other members of the Environment Art Team, the Level Art Team, and other departments to bring the artistic vision set by art direction to life. We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of delivering visually stunning, high-quality levels, and who excels in collaborating with other disciplines, as well as mentoring and supporting team members.


Terms:

  • 18-month contract, 40-hours per week
  • Location: Vancouver, BC
  • Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 remote)


Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the values of our Art Team, fostering a creative, positive, and inclusive culture.
  • Contribute to the Environment Art team during all production phases.
  • Create 3D assets, high-quality models, sculpts, textures, and surfaces.
  • Fix bugs and polish in-game assets.
  • Actively accept feedback from the environment art lead and art director.
  • Support OS reviewers/managers and external artists as needed.
  • Work well under deadlines; be self-motivated and collaborative.


Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years of Environment Art in video games with at least one shipped title.
  • Creation of 3d assets, high quality models & sculpts, textures and surfaces. Fixing bugs and polishing in-game assets.
  • Model, sculpt and texture environmental assets and surfaces.
  • Comfortable with organic and hard surface asset creation.
  • Comfortable with Maya or other 3D software, Z-Brush, Substance Painter or Mixer, and Photoshop.


Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in AAA game development.
  • Portfolio with examples of environment artwork.
  • Ability to model, sculpt, and texture environmental assets and surfaces.
  • Comfort with high poly and nanite workflows.
  • Proficiency in organic and hard surface asset creation.
  • Expertise in Maya or other 3D software, Z-Brush, Substance Painter or Mixer, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with a modern game engine such as Unreal Engine.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with deadlines; self-motivated and directed.
