Key Responsibilities:- Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensures compliance with regulations and promotes a culture of safety among all employees.
- Conducts regular safety walks, identifies potential hazards, and implements corrective actions.
- Maintains safe operations by enforcing policies and procedures.
- Ensure root cause analysis of safety related incidents and corrective actions are implemented in a timely and thorough manner.
- Promotes high standards of facilities order and cleanliness.
- Maintains knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Operational Excellence:
- Develops and implements strategies to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and overall performance.
- Promotes a continuous improvement mindset, is never satisfied with the status quo.
- Monitors and analyzes key performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous operational enhancements.
- Identifies opportunities to improve operational processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implements best practices in areas such as order processing, inventory management, and receiving.
- Ensure that SQDIP methodology is implement appropriately at each location to enhance visibility and accountability into key performance metrics as defined by corporate.
- Quality:
- Works with site leadership, corporate quality, and operations to ensured policies, procedures and work instructions are implemented, and developed as needed to ensure compliance with the quality management system, customer requirements and industry standards.
- Reviews and analyzes quality, production, maintenance, and operational reports to identify nonconformity, determine causes, and implements corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensures training and employee certification programs are implemented fully.
- Monitors operational equipment and facilities maintenance programs to ensure they are documented in accordance with company policy, and to ensure capacity to meet customer needs.
- Collaborates with site management to establish and implement production and quality control standards, develop budgets, and cost controls.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, including supervisors, leads, warehouse staff, logistics coordinators, and operational personnel to be next generation of company leaders.
- Set performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and recognize success.
- Customer Satisfaction:
- Collaborate as needed with sales and contracts teams to meet customer needs, on-board new business and exceed customer expectations.
- Address customer and team members inquiries, concerns, and escalations in a timely and professional manner.
- Production Control and Operational Oversite:
- Coordinates activities within the region and collaborates with other regions to ensure effective production control.
- Reviews operational reports and dashboards to communicate performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement to corporate management.
- Coordinates production activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to work in a "team" environment and must be hands-on.
- The ideal would have BS Degree in a related field of study.
- Minimum of 5 years operations or warehouse management experience in the metals service center or related industry.
- Formalized process improvement training, certification, or experience.
- OSHA 10 or higher safety training certificate.
- Ability to effectively problem solve while maintaining a skillful, professional demeanor.
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
- Full engagement of all employees, change agent, problem solver, doer, self-starter, clear on expectations, responsible and accountability.
- Customer focused, results oriented, decisive, open communicator.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP systems
