Executive Producer, Fortune Video:

Fortune is seeking a visionary executive producer to lead our video newsroom and transform how the next generation engages with Fortune's journalism.

Working across YouTube, our website, and social channels, this role requires an entrepreneurial, builder mindset. The ideal candidate has experience creating a video operation from the ground up and scaling it to millions of monthly global views.

The right person will know how to spot and recruit talent, foster creativity, test lots of story ideas quickly, iterating based on viewer data. They should be able to tell smart stories for a business audience and create engaging series on topics Fortune's audience cares about including tech, money, luxury travel, wellness, career advice and more.

Reporting to the editor-in-chief, the executive producer will work closely with the newsroom's top leadership to produce award-winning visual journalism. They will also work closely with the business side of Fortune Media to build a sustainable and profitable operation with the help of Fortune's sales team.

This position requires multiple years of experience leading and building video newsrooms for a business audience, a self-starter attitude, and the ability to find robust business stories that can translate to the screen as YouTube series, short news packages, or longer form feature content.

The ability to find and collaborate with others is also vital. You might be hiring crews for field shoots, ideating with senior newsroom leadership, shooting Fortune conferences, working with editors and animators across the newsroom to bring those stories to life, or editing pieces yourself.

You will:
  • Work closely with newsroom and company leadership to drive an ambitious video strategy that generates high viewership and revenue.
  • Have extensive YouTube programming experience. Understanding platform analytics and optimization.
  • Have relationships with social platforms and contacts within their publisher teams.
  • Use data to generate story pitches with high viewership potential.
  • Generate and implement unique, original video franchise ideas that expand Fortune's audience.
  • Produce, write, and edit original content under deadlines.
  • Lead a team of full-time employees and contractors to own video projects with a consistent style.
  • Have a positive attitude and strong aptitude in core business verticals, including tech and finance.

The right candidate:
  • Has a minimum 10 years of experience at a network or agency production level writing, producing, and editing digital video.
  • Has excellent editorial news judgment.
  • Has the ability to be detail-oriented and thorough in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Is an excellent communicator and leader who can work across parts of the organization and mentor staff members.


Location: Our editorial team is based across time zones and international borders. This role can be based in the US, with a preference for New York City. If you're based within commuting distance of one of our offices, there will be a minimum of 3 days/week in the office.

Salary Range: $175,000-$225,000. This range is a good-faith estimate and may ultimately vary based on a number of relevant factors.
