Job Description

At D.M. Wills Associates Limited, our Transportation Engineering team provides specialized transportation engineering services in relation to the design of highways and roads, including road safety, traffic engineering, active transportation, and asset management.

As part of our succession planning, we are looking for an aspiring individual with senior-level transportation engineering experience for a role in our transportation engineering department.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for multiple projects from inception to completion and provide project management and engineering services supporting various projects, including preliminary project planning, design, tender preparation, and construction management and post-construction evaluation.

Reporting to the Manager of the Transportation Department, you will participate in the business initiatives related to the Transportation Engineering Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project schedules, controls, and budgets.
  • Communicate with clients and provide regular progress reports.
  • Coordinate with engineering, design teams, and other professionals.
  • Lead the project team, including subcontractors and consultants.
  • Review design tasks and ensure design integrity.
  • Conduct site inspections and review technical reports.
  • Mentor junior staff and liaise with contacts.
  • Participate in business development and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Stamp and sign engineering drawings and reports.
  • Degree in civil engineering, with 5+ years of related Transportation experience.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario or eligible to be licensed within six (6) months of employment.
  • Experience in proposal preparation and business development.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in project management.
  • Solid understanding of engineering theory, concepts, and regulations.
  • Experienced in the development and management of staff and project teams.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills for effective collaboration with team members, government officials, agencies, and contractors.
  • Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Ontario G class driver's license.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Wills offers a competitive compensation package with comprehensive benefits and merit-based bonuses for performance and tenure. Salary will be commensurate with experience and ranges from $80,000 - $130,000.

A regular presence in our Peterborough office is required, but hybrid/flexible work arrangements may be available/negotiated.
