Architect (Data Center Focus - Architecture)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented Data Center Architect with a strong focus on data center design and management providing strategic technical guidance. This role is ideal for a professional ready to leverage their expertise in creating detailed architectural plans and ensuring seamless project execution. As a vital member of the Cuhaci Peterson team, you will play a crucial role in the design and documentation of innovative data center solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architectural Design: Lead the design of data center projects, creating detailed architectural plans that meet client specifications and industry standards. Provide technical expertise and recommendations on data center infrastructure, encompassing power systems, cooling solutions, network architecture, and security practices.
- Documentation: Oversee the comprehensive project documentation process, from drawings and specifications to contracts, and manage construction administration to uphold quality and alignment with design intent.
- Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, construction, and IT teams to integrate architectural designs with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Project Management: Support project managers in overseeing the design phase, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of design documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices. Perform in depth architectural and engineering coordination quality control checks.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and address any design-related issues. Provide support for business development and sales initiatives as directed by the principal.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Architectural Expertise: Strong background in architectural design, with experience in the AEC industry and a deep understanding of data center requirements.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools to create detailed architectural plans and documentation and project management software.
- Coordination Skills: Ability to work closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure designs are accurately implemented and integrated with other systems. Provide timely assistance to the Project Manager and Principal in developing the scope, schedule, and fees for responding to client RFPs.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in creating and reviewing design documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex design concepts to diverse stakeholders. Lead all technical communication in client meetings, presentations, and discussions of project progress, address and resolve concerns or issues, and provide strategic guidance.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address design challenges and find innovative solutions.
Recommended Experience and Education:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or additional certifications in data center design or project management is highly desirable.
- Industry Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in architectural design, with at least 3-5 years specifically focused on data center projects within the AEC industry.
- Professional Licensure: Licensure as a Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
- Project Experience: Proven track record of successfully managing complicated, mission-critical data center projects, including design development, construction documentation, and project coordination. Must be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of data center construction practices, infrastructure, including power distribution, HVAC systems, networking, and security protocols
