Note: A Valid a Driver’s License is required. Must be available for travel (day & overnight).

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm

This is an advanced level position involving technician work in a highway materials testing facility. General activities include the following: logging and preparing samples for testing; performing advanced volumetric asphalt testing procedures; performing asphalt performance tests; entering test data into the appropriate reporting software program or database; sampling and testing in the field; and calibrating lab equipment.

This position will work in the Bituminous Mix Laboratory.

Specific job duties include:

1. Sample and prepare aggregates and other materials for asphalt testing

2. Batch and mix asphalt samples

3. Perform ignition oven and gradation testing on samples

4. Perform volumetric testing on asphalt mixtures (bulk specific gravity and maximum specific gravity)

5. Perform fine aggregate specific gravity test

6. Perform fine aggregate angularity test

7. Perform asphalt pavement analyzer test

8. Perform asphalt bond strength test

9. Prepare FC-5 pie plates for optimum asphalt content determination

10. Use the coring vehicle and equipment to obtain field samples and perform pavement permeability testing

11. Enter test information into the appropriate database

12. Maintain and calibrate testing equipment

13. Perform other related duties as assigned
