Job Description

The Quality Director will be responsible for overseeing the quality strategy and execution for Tangent’s manufacturing divisions. Reporting directly to the President and CFO, this position will lead the quality department in ensuring that all products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations. This is a senior-level role that requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a strategic approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement across the organization.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quality Strategy and Leadership
  • Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance and quality control strategies aligned with Tangent’s goals and regulatory standards.
  • Lead and mentor the quality team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and customer focus.
  • Align quality initiatives with business objectives and communicate quality metrics and achievements.
  • Process and Compliance Management
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications.
  • Design and monitor quality management systems (QMS) to meet regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Engineering, Production, Sales) to ensure quality is embedded across the manufacturing process.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify areas for process improvement and drive initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in quality management and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Supplier and Customer Quality Assurance
  • Oversee supplier quality to ensure compliance with Tangent’s standards and manage relationships to foster collaborative improvement efforts.
  • Partner with customers to address quality concerns and work towards resolutions in a timely and effective manner.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Establish KPIs and monitor quality metrics, providing regular reports to executive leadership.
  • Utilize data-driven analysis to assess risks, optimize quality processes, and guide decision-making.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Proven expertise in quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Lean Six Sigma, TQM).
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), or Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Experience in data-driven decision-making tools (e.g., statistical analysis software).
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions to influence positive outcomes and foster teamwork.
  • Hands-on individual that gets involved in the projects and working alongside colleagues. · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within manufacturing
