The Law Offices of Daniel A. Kaplan is seeking an associate attorney to support our litigation team. Candidates should be licensed to practice in California, have exceptional writing skills and strong academic credentials. This is an opportunity for a talented lawyer who is eager to gain significant trial, evidentiary hearing and deposition experience. We will consider a new admittee to the Bar.

Pay Scale: The reasonably expected salary for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. For a new admittee, the salary may be below the stated range. The salary offered and the potential for a bonus is commensurate with the candidate's years of practice, experience and performance.
Benefits: We offer a benefits package including 401k, disability insurance, and malpractice coverage. We also cover California Bar dues, San Diego County Bar Association membership, and most MCLE credits. Parking is provided.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- J.D. from an ABA-approved law school, graduating in the top third of your class (or demonstrably strong academic performance)
- Admission to the State Bar of California
- Zero-Two years of civil litigation experience in California (preferred, but not required)
- Excellent legal research skills
- Strong analytical and writing skills with a focus on clarity, conciseness, and efficiency
- Familiarity with Lexis Nexis platform
- Strong familiarity with California and Federal Court rules and procedures
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and prioritize deadlines
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and decision-making skills
Scope of Work:
- Conduct factual investigation for new matters such as client and witness interviews and document organization
- Analyze facts and legal issues to strategize, develop, initiate and carry out effective case management strategies for clients
- Draft and respond to initial pleadings and motions, meticulously crafted legal documents, and persuasive briefs
- Advocate for clients' interests in court, presenting well-reasoned arguments
- Manage all aspects of trial preparation, including discovery, taking and defending depositions, and witness interviews
- Track time effectively and efficiently
