Initially under close supervision, candidates with basic maintenance experience, will learn water distribution and wastewater collection system infrastructure, use of tools and equipment. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greaternnindependence.nnDUTIES INCLUDE:nnCandidates may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to performnnadditional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs andnnchanging business practices.nnPerform customer service duties such as turn-ons and shut-offs and checking fornnleaks or dead meters; report water use violations; assist customers in resolving waternnvolume, leak, quality, and pressure problems; take water samples.nnPerform a variety of semi-skilled work to locate, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, andnnrepair meters, valves, pipes, and related appurtenances; flushes water distributionnnand cleans wastewater collection systems and exercises valves.nnAssist and inspect repair work associated with repairs of water mains andnnwastewater collection systems and related appurtenances.nnRespond to customer complaints and emergency calls for service; use inspectionnnequipment to investigate and identify causes; and assist in mitigating spills, leaks,nnand damage, as required.nnOperate and maintain specialized vehicles and a variety of light, medium, and heavynnequipment and hand and power tools related to the maintenance and repair of waternndistribution and wastewater collection and related equipment.nnObserve safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipmentnnas required.nnRespond to after-hours emergencies and assist other maintenance crews as needednnin emergency or relief situations.nnAttend training and safety meetings as necessary.nnPerform other duties as assignednnQualificationsnnEducation/Experience/Background:nnThe operation and maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools, vehicles, andnnlight to heavy power equipment.
